"Today I sent my daughter to camp with a towel and goggles. Totally forgot the swim suit. KGC went above and beyond today by allowing Mya to borrow a suit to wear swimming. This mom is so grateful!! Thank you so much.

General Information

At KGC we understand the importance of physical activity in a child’s development. Gymnastics is the foundation sport for all physical activity and sports. Early participation in gymnastics develops the most fundamental movement skills, physical and motor abilities, social and emotional abilities and performance skills that carry over into all aspects of life.

We have designed a Summer Camp to ensure children keep active and have fun while learning gymnastics and interacting with other children. With 1.5-3 hours of gymnastics each day (1.5 hrs AM & PM), children are sure to learn and improve their gymnastics skills; along with their strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination! Our gymnastics portion in camp is completely coach-led so the children can learn and improve their skills.

When we're not doing gymnastics, children are busy playing games in the gym and outside, making crafts, enjoying and exploring the gym during supervised free time, and participating in special exercises based on the theme of the week. Your child’s safety and enjoyment are top priority.

Our facility is fully air conditioned and we have a large space out back to play. We have a second-floor viewing area, lunch/snack and craft room.

Every Thursday we take a Bus Trip to the Boys & Girls Club for private indoor swimming, followed by outdoor play time at a nearby Park.

Every Tuesday we take a special field trip to a different location every week. These field trips can be found below.

Occasionally, we also walk as a group to a nearby Park to play on the field and play structure. Our staff will notify you at drop-off if we are planning a Park visit that day and provide you with the exact location and times.

We finish off every Friday with Pizza Day and an end of week Carnival for the children to enjoy! Carnival will include face painting, games and activities.

We aim to keep activities different from day to day and week to week to keep our returning campers interested! We accomplish this by provided a different theme every week with different crafts, games, special guests, and field trips. We also have a large trailer full of equipment which gets switched out and rotated weekly, so the gym set up is never the exact same.

We are a not-for-profit aiming to keep camp fees as low as possible to allow as many kids as possible the opportunity to join us. We offer flexible registration options to work with your schedule - register for a single half day, full day, full week, or more. We offer free Pre & Post Care for parents needing early drop off or late pick up before/after their camp day. We also offer a 30% discount for subsequent children in the same family.

Our Coaches love working with children and promoting the positive benefits of gymnastics and physical activity. The coaches are all trained through Gymnastics Ontario and receive regular in-club training. We have several safety policies and procedures in place. You are welcome to contact the Camp Coordinator if you have any questions or would like anymore information on Summer Camp: Judy Snable - kgcrecdirector@gmail.com / 613-384-1190

Policies & More Information

Campers
KGC Camp is offered to children aged 4 through 12. We ask that all children attending our camp are able to use the washroom themselves. Children will be grouped with similar ages and with friends and siblings, as requested upon registration. The ratio for Campers to Coaches is dependent on the age of our participants, however, will not exceed 10:1, and is most often less (6:1 for age 4-5 and 8:1 for age 6+).

Camper Supervision and Injuries/Illnesses
Campers are supervised at all times during Camp, from the time they are signed in to the time they are signed out. KGC and Gymnastics Ontario have tried to create a safe and controlled environment and KGC has many established rules and emergency action plans. However, there is always a potential risk of injury. We have trained Coaches and have many policies and procedures in place for this reason, Adults are verbally notified at pick-up of any injury/illness that occurred during camp, if: 1. The camper sat out or missed more than one turn, or changed their activity to protect the injured body part; or 2. If there was any blood involved. If injuries/illnesses require medical attention, the parent will be contacted immediately and depending on the severity, an ambulance may be called.

Staff
At all times during Camp there is at least one Camp Supervisor who has First Aid and CPR training. All of our Coaches are certified with the National Coaching Certification Program and receive in-club training. The Camp Coordinator is on site for the majority of the camp days and Senior Supervisors are always on site.

Field Trips
Every Tuesday, the Campers and Coaches/Supervisors will attend a special field. Please view the information above which includes the weekly dates, themes, special field trip, and important notes.

Every Thursday afternoon we take a Field Trip to the Boys & Girls Club at the Frontenac Mall (1300 Bath Rd) for Private Indoor Swimming; followed by outdoor play, weather pending, at the Woodbine Park (1180 Woodbine Rd). If the weather is not appropriate for outdoor play, we will visit the Kingston Frontenac Public Library, Isabel Turner Branch (935 Gardiners Rd). The bus will arrive back to the club by 4:00pm. Please notify the Coaches at Sign-In if you would prefer to pick your child up at the Park/Library before 3:40pm. Please remember to pack a bathing suit and towel on Thursday's. It is also especially important on Thursday's to remember to bring an extra change of clothes, sunscreen, hat, running shoes for outdoor play, and extra water/snacks. Please also remember to pack your KGC T-Shirt from Tuesday!

Occasionally, we also walk as a group to a nearby Park to play on the field and play structure. Our staff will notify you at drop-off if we are planning a Park visit that day and provide you with the exact location and times.

Depending on the activity, we aim to keep a 5:1 ratio which includes Supervisors, Coaches, and Competitive Team Parent Volunteers (who have provided clear CPIC's). The Supervisor(s) will bring a first aid kit, sunscreen, and a cell phone in case of emergency on all outings. Please note that we cannot wait for late-comers on Field Trip days. If you arrive late, you will be responsible for driving your camper(s) to the Field Trip location if you wish to join. Campers may not remain at the club as we will not have staff to supervise. Refunds/Credits will not be given if the field trip is missed. Thanks for your understanding.

Sunscreen
Parents/guardians are required provide sunscreen for their own child to use during the day. Sunscreen sent to Camp should be labeled with the child’s first and last name. Staff will only assist with applying your child's sunscreen if they require such assistance and only if consent is given via your camp registration form. Many children have skin sensitivities or allergies to sunscreens. As such, in the rare occasion where your camper forgets to bring sunscreen to camp, our staff will only provide or apply sunscreen, which is on hand at the Club, if your consent has been provided at the time of registration. It is important to note that the sunscreen at the Club is for emergency use only when sunscreen has been forgotten and may not comply with individual child requirements based on sensitivities or allergies. KGC will not take responsibility for any reactions which may occur as the result of sunscreen used at our club. Please take the time to review your choice options at the time of registration.

Carnival
We finish off every week with a Friday afternoon Carnival, including face painting, games and activities! Please advise the coaches of any allergies or sensitivities and/or if you don't want your child to receive face painting.
