Parent and Child Classes
We believe a child is never too young to start developing a love for gymnastics and physical activity. These classes focus on fun and fitness with a parent or guardian. Children and parents move in small groups around the gym with a qualified coach.
Babynastics 8-15 months: This parent and child class runs for 45 minutes with activities taking place throughout the gym. In addition to basic gymnastic movements such as; rolling, crawling, walking, balancing, and bouncing, classes include sing along songs lead by the coach. Some of these basic songs include the wheels on the bus, head and shoulders, and hello baby. As well, some basic sign language is taught to help these young participants communicate with their parents and the coach using signs such as; hello, thank you, again, water, eat, more, all done, mommy, daddy, and hurt.
Tall & Small 16-36 months: This parent and child class is an expansion of the Babynastics class. It runs for 60 minutes with activities taking place throughout the gym. Participants learn the basics of gymnastics including; rolling, walking, balancing, and jumping in various ways with progressions for their age and ability. They do not have to complete the Babynastics program to register for this program. This is a structured, coach-led program, which prepares the toddlers for the independent class, Kindergym, which begins at age 3.
New this year: KGC is running Tall & Small FUNdamentals and Tall & KEENER Small. The FUNdamental program introduces toddlers to the sport of gymnastics with the main goal of having FUN while fostering enjoyment of the sport. While maintaining the importance of fun and play, the KEENER class has a greater focus on gymnastics skill development. These toddlers may be more experienced, independent, and/ or show a greater interest in the sport.
Gym Attire - Participants
Participants should be dressed in something they can easily move in that is free of strings, hoods, zippers etc. that could get caught on equipment or injure the child. They are also required to be in bare feet with no bracelets, necklaces, earrings (other than small studs), or other jewelery as it can also cause injury.
Gym Attire - Parents/Guardians
Parents/guardians can be dressed in whatever is comfortable for them but dangling jewelery or clothing is not recommended. Socks of the parent/guardian do not have to be removed. Please note that only one adult per child can be in the gym at a time during class as only one adult is insured through Gymnastics Ontario.
The Kingston Gymnastics Club is a bright 9800 square foot facility that offers equipment for boys and girls of all ages. The gym features a full sized floor, beams at a variety of heights, sets of single and uneven bars, two vault areas, an in ground trampoline and large mesh pit area. The gym also has various “Just For Kids” areas designed for our smallest participants to help develop confidence and learn with more independence. We have a second floor viewing area and our facility is fully air conditioned.
At all times during classes, there is at least one supervisor who has First Aid and CPR training. All of our coaches are qualified with the National Coaching Certification Program and receive in-club training.
Participants and Age Requirements
Our maximum ratio for Babynastics and Tall & Small is 8:1. Participants should be the minimum age for the program they are registering for prior to the first class of the session. However, if space and groupings permit, the Program Coordinator may allow a child to be registered for a program if they are turning the minimum age during the session. We do reserve the right to transfer/credit the child during the session if, in our judgment, the child is not ready for the program.
Only staff and participants are allowed in the gym during class time. Participants include the baby/toddler and one adult. We have a second floor viewing area available to watch the class.
Make Up Classes
There are no make up classes if you are unable to attend your regular class. If KGC is forced to cancel a class due to inclement weather, a facility issue, or coach absenteeism, every effort will be made to provide a make-up class.
Registration & Payment
We encourage parents to register as early as possible for classes as we have a maximum per class. Full payment is required at registration in order to ensure your child's spot. We accept cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard, and Cheque.
Refunds & Credits
Refunds/credits must be requested in writing before your child’s third class. The non-refundable $30 annual Gymnastics Ontario Fee (if applicable), a $15 administration fee (for refunds only) and the class fee per elapsed class will be deducted from the total refund/credit.
If space is available a parent may request a change of class. An administrative fee of $10.00 will be charged for each class change made at a parent’s request.
Please be advised we have participants at our gym with severe peanut allergies. Please do not bring any food items containing peanuts into our facility.
